If you love live music, delicious food, and lots of options for both, you should put Nashville on your bucket list. My husband I picked Nashville for a quick 3 night trip because it was only about an hour flight from where we are currently living and because we knew there were endless things to do. I’m so glad we did pick it! After spending a solid 4 days and 3 nights, we packed in a memorable great trip that guaranteed we will be back again one day.

We decided to stay at Hutton Hotel, a swanky boutique style hotel. It's actually a spot where they have filmed the television show Nashville! It was a touch closer to Vanderbilt then it was to the downtown area and I’m so glad it was! I didn’t expect that we would head towards Vanderbilt as much as we did. We spent equal time exploring both areas and everywhere in between. We love to walk, and walk we did. It made us feel a whole lot better about all the juicy fried chicken and beer we were trying. Here are our favorites. You can’t go wrong at these places!

Food

*Whiskey Kitchen- High-end bar atmosphere, great cocktails, the fried green tomatoes over spinach were freakin amazing

*Hattie B’s Chicken- very casual, always a line, VERY worth it. We loved it for a lunch. Juiciest and crispiest chicken I think i’ve ever had. We loved our meal here. Sides were great but the chicken was the star.

*Arnold’s Country Kitchen- A Nashville staple, another spot that always has a line. Family style spot, ultra casual. It is a must try but we still enjoyed other places a touch more. But try everything :)

*San Antonio Taco Company aka SAT CO. Right across from the Vanderbilt University. Cheap and delicious! My favorites were the fried fish tacos and the queso. We will definitely come back here when we want something casual and delicious. They have a great deck so go when it's nice out.

*Burger Republic- Delicious burgers, decadent yummy shakes, and the fried pickles and peppers were good.

*Biscuit Love Brunch- No surprise this always has a line too! Rich, delicious, and quick brunch. The hot chicken with mustard and honey and pickle slices was surprisingly perfect for brunch. The bonuts with lemon mascarpone was an excuse to have dessert for breakfast and I loved that.

*Pancake Pantry- another line but this one was the longest. Once you're seated the service is prompt. Really great pancake dishes and so many to choose from. My pancakes had a strawberry compote on top with whipped cream. When I visit this place again I’ll probably get the exact same thing it was so good.

*Fido- This was clearly a Vanderbilt coffeehouse hangout. It had so many good reviews so we tried it for breakfast. It wasn’t anything special. Not bad but not good either. If you need to do some work and need wifi and a nibble, then its probably a good place.

Breweries

*Jackalope Brewing Company- This was our favorite brewery. Great merchandise as a nice souvenir, good beer choices,  old board games to play. There is also a coffee shop attached which was nice to enjoy when we arrived before the brewery was technically open. ZolliKoffee has a great chai latte that they make in house.

*Tennessee Brew Works- has a great setup. Lots of outdoor and indoor spots to sit and enjoy your brew and you can also watch them brewing while you're hanging out. We still liked the Jackalope brews a little more but Tennessee Brew Works had great ambiance and a large connect four game we had some fun with(see pic above). I seemed to do better as my husband drank more beer :)

*Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery- the best part was the rooftop bar where you could look out onto Broadway and the water. That was what we enjoyed most and the main reason we would return if we did.

Live Music Spots

*Grand Ole Opry- We went to see some fantastic artists and really enjoyed ourselves! It's a bit of a drive/ Uber ride. Darius Rucker and Charlie Daniels were the headliners for the evening and boy were they awesome. I’m not gonna lie, Charlie Daniels can really get down! Why can’t he be my grandpa. He seems like a really good time!!! Once we got out of the show we walked over the Dave and Busters for a round of bowling while we waited for an Uber!

*Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar- Good live music. We were told it was more of a locals spot!

*The Stage On Broadway- Right on Broadway with some fantastic singers singing current popular country music. Can get packed but we loved coming here even for the music alone.

*Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge- big staple and a must to at least check out!

Honestly you can pop into any spot in the downtown area on Broadway and probably find a singer singing something you'll love.

We barely scratched the surface on what Nashville has to offer. You will have such a memorable and enjoyable trip if you decide to head to Nashville to unwind and have some fun!
